(10) – TIP#221: Lock Vehicle While Running – A few people have asked if it is possible to leave the van running and lock the doors from the outside. If have a pet inside and want to leave the AC running while you pop into a store for a minute. The emergency key in the fob will lock/unlock the drivers door with the engine running. The remote on the fob will not work to lock/unlock. Press and hold the release button to remove the key from the fob.

While this will work, it is not recommended since a pet could bump the shifter into gear (NOTE: I think you may need a foot on the brake to go into gear. Something to test), or a thief could break a window and drive off with your pride & joy (and pet). Idling for long periods is not recommended.

Fantastic Fan Dome Cover

Fans come in manual operation or infrared remote control.  Speeds can be adjusted as well as setting temperatures for on & off.  Some models can run the fan with the dome closed to act as a ceiling fan for internal circulation.
NOTE: With the fan on exhaust setting and the windows closed, if the sink and shower traps are dry, the fan can draw odors from the gray tank into the RV.

Black Tank Vent

The stack vents odors and equalizes air pressure in the black tank.

WiFi Ranger Antenna

Wingard WiFiRanger is a secure, network booster to connect campground WiFi and works with both 2.4Ghz and 5.8GHz networks.

Air-conditioner

Options: 12 volt DC ProAir, 12 volt DC Turbo II (shown), 120 volt AC Dometic.

(Mod: Our cover has been painted to match the van color and reflect heat)

TIP: The ProAir exterior fan is extremely noisy. Several owners have replaced them with a quieter fan.

Propane Tank

The propane tank holds 9.7 gallons of propane (41 pounds). Located in the propane box are an ON/OFF switch for the flow of propane, a fill connection, and a quick-connect for connecting a grill or other appliance.

Shore Power Receptacle

When camping with hookups, power is connected from the campground power pedestal to the van.  There are several different types of connector.  (Modification: Shown here is the 30 amp SmartPlug).

Propane Cover

The hinged cover is held closed by a long bolt and when opened allows access to the Propane Fill connection, auxiliary ON/OFF switch and a low pressure quick connect fitting.  The quick connect can be used to provide propane to external gas grill, propane fire pit, propane heater, etc.  The quick connect supplies low pressure propane so if you are connecting to a gas grill, the grill’s regulator needs to be removed. The propane pressure regulator is also in this area.

Sewer Hose and Dump Valves

The cover is held down with two magnets and provides access to the sewer hose, black tank valve and gray tank valves.  Many newer vans use an onboard macerator pump and an accordion hose (Thetford 97521).  The hose is usually about 10 feet long but can vary in length.  The head of the hose is held in storage by a 3-connection web strap.  To release the strap, the easiest may be to unhook the bottom hook.  The power switch for the macerator pump is located in the water box.
TIP:  When extending or retracting the hose, remove the small hose cap to allow air into the hose.
TIP: If extra length is required, a short garden hose can be attached to the sewer hose cap.
TIP: When emptying tanks, empty the black tank first and then the gray tank to use the gray water to rinse the inside of the hose.
TIP: Keep a piece of cardboard or newspaper handy to kneel on in the slop.

Driver’s Door Handle

The doors can be unlocked using the key fob or with an emergency key contained in the fob if the fob battery is dead.
TIP:  Standing next to the driver’s door, press and hold the unlock button and both windows will roll down.  (Holding the lock button rolls them up)
