TIP#207: Degas Tank (18) is part of the pressurized cooling system and is designed to allow air bubbles to be removed from the cooling circuit. The pressure cap is also the fill point.
WARNING: Never fill above the indicated fill line on the tank. This reduces the expansion area and can lead to inaccurate level readings.

26 – EGR: If your Sprinter engine is sputtering, lacks power in the midrange (1500-2000) RPMs, or has trouble going up-hill, you may need to clean the EGR valve. They usually need cleaning around 20,000 miles.
If you are moderately handy, it is a possible DIY project with the help of a couple YouTube videos. You will need a couple specialized star sockets (E10), hose clamp tool, and a spray can of carburetor cleaner.
Replacement MB Part# 642-140-14-60-64 – $742

TIP#234: Engine Cool Down –When preparing to shut off the engine after highway driving (like at rest stops), idle the engine 3-5 minutes to allow the turbo charger to cool down gradually and get oil into the turbo bearings. This can extend the life of the turbo and the engine.
========================================================
TIP#187: Diesel Particulate Filter – The diesel particulate filter (DPF) captures and stores the soot so it is not released into the environment. To keep the filter clean, the soot is periodically burned off. You may get a dash warning light or smell strong diesel fumes. If the warning light is on, the fix is to simply drive the van at highway speeds for 30-60 minutes. Replacing the DPF can cost over $2,000.
